Prison Ministry

Imagine being confined to a 15x15 room for days, weeks, months, and years on end with little or no contact to anyone from the "real world."  Each day, the excitement peaks as names are called off from a list containing recent mail recipients, and every one around you waits in anxious exhilaration to have a message from a loved one.  Most of the people sink back in utter dissapointment and despair as once again there is no word about any future, hope, or prospect of good news.  That's where we come in.

The Prison Ministry is a vastly overlooked opportunity for ministering the Good News of Jesus Christ.  However, at First Baptist Church of Leesburg, we are whole-heartedly committed to turning this den of iniquity into a House of Hope.  We have made huge progress, and had awesome success, at administering and developing a 40 Days of Purpose Campaign at Coleman Correctional Facility.  We recently graduated our first class of inmates that committed to, and completed, a 40-week course focused on developing a purpose, passion, and desire to live their lives for God.

The program we designed at Coleman is now being considered as a model to implement similar arrangements at every federal prison across America.  Some of the inmates that we graduated are even facing the possibility of being spread around the nation to help in the process.  God refuses to let Satan continue to have free reign in this aspect of our society, and we are witnessing, and participating in, this revival firsthand.

Each week, more and more inmates are surrendering their hearts and lives to Jesus, and being obedient to His call on their lives.  This is evident with the number of baptisms that occur at Coleman.  Pictured below is a selection of the photographs we have taken while responding to the call of God on these men's lives.
